Position: NADAAP Worker
Supervisor: Director Health & Social
Type: Full-Time Permanent
Wage: $30-40 per hour
Closing Date: April 17, 2026 or until filled
Job Summary
Reporting to the Director Health and Social, the NADAAP Worker is responsible for providing intervention and crisis support for members struggling with addictions and substance use, coordinating workshops on life skills, holding regular recovery group meetings, and community events promoting abstinence from alcohol and substance use. Activities and events will include the use of traditional practices and skills, time on the land, and culturally based activities such as harvesting, gathering and preparing traditional medicines, and facilitating elders and youth working together.
Education and Experience
- Degree or diploma in a health or social service related field or equivalent coursework and/or experience working in an addiction setting, facilitating or facilitating the provision of addictions programing to clients
- Experience working with Youth and/or Elders is an asset.
- Good computer skills (MS Office and other programs)
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, relationship-building skills
- Knowledge, respect and understanding of LFN culture, traditions and language are considered an asset.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to work pleasantly and effectively with a wide range of people of different ages and cultures, in potentially volatile and emotionally charged situations.
- Ability to work respectfully with others in a cross-cultural environment.
- Knowledge of Liard First Nation history, culture, traditional territory, and demographics.
- Tact, intuition and diplomacy, strong work ethics and good judgment and ability to work well in a team environment.
Conditions of Employment/Working Conditions
- This position may be required to travel within and outside of the Yukon.
- Some overtime and weekend work will be required.
- The position often works with clients experiencing trauma and/or emotional stress.
- Valid class 5 Yukon Driver’s License.
- Standard First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain
- Criminal Record Check
