Position: Court Worker

Supervisor: Director Justice

Type:  Full-Time Permanent

Wage: Negotiable (depending on qualifications and experience)

Job Summary
Reporting to the Justice Director, the Court Worker is responsible for assisting all First Nation people within the Liard First Nation Territory through the court system and work closely with the Dena Keh Program.

Education and Experience 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working in a Justice setting an asset

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills. 
  • Ability to work pleasantly and effectively with a wide range of people of different ages and cultures, in potentially volatile and emotionally charged situations. 
  • Ability to work respectfully with others in a cross-cultural environment. 
  • Knowledge of Liard First Nation history, culture, traditional territory, and demographics. 
  • Tact, intuition and diplomacy, strong work ethics and good judgment and ability to work well in a team environment. 
  • Solid intermediate-level computer skills (MS Office and internet)
  • Ability be a positive role model within the community, living a clean lifestyle

Conditions of Employment/Working Conditions

  • This position will be required to travel within and outside of the Yukon.
  • Some overtime and weekend work will be required. 
  • The position often works with clients experiencing trauma and/or emotional stress.
  • Valid class 5 Yukon Driver’s License (willing to obtain Class 4).
  • Standard First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain
  • Criminal Record Check
