The Yukon Youth Summit 2024 (YYS24) is a gathering of youth and youth advocates from all across the territory. YYS24 takes place from April 17-19, 2024 at the Yukon Arts Centre & Yukon University Gymnasium. This year’s summit kicks off with an awards ceremony on the 17th, and the following two days will see a variety of entertainment and activities for adults and youth alike. The final day, April 19th, culminates with the signing and declaration of the Territorial Youth Strategy (TYS).
The summit is currently seeking nominations for prominent youth, educators/youth workers, and Elders. Nominate someone who’s made a positive impact in the community through this link: https://www.shakatjournal.ca/youthsummitawards. Award winners will have travel and one night’s accommodation covered if they choose to attend the award ceremony. Nominations close April 2.
Young creatives are also encouraged to show off their talents in the pre-summit contests. Over $3,000 in prizes are available for young artists, filmmakers, photographers, musicians, and writers. Contest details: https://www.shakatjournal.ca/contests. Contest closes April 15.
